The Artist.
Hi everyone! This will be my first blog ever. I’ve attempted to do this before but I’m terrible about keeping up with things.
Last week Brant and I walked down to the river behind my house. This has to be one of my favorite spots in Athens and although I share it with all my neighbors, I feel like I have the whole river to myself. We climbed rocks, discovered new trails, and of course, searched for any signs of deer or wildlife. If you know me, you know I love the outdoors and nature. One of the reasons I love it most is because it reminds me of how great God is. It also reminds me of how small I am compared to the rest of the world and helps set my perspective to where it should be. Looking at this river, and remembering all the other beautiful places I’ve been, reminded me of a quote by one of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis. In the book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis states that the Universe is God’s greatest clue to who He is.
“If we used this [nature] as our only clue, then I think we should have to conclude that He was a great artist (for the universe is a very beautiful place).”
Also Paul E. Little states in Know Why You Believe that
“Belief is ultimately a matter of the will. And God has given us starting evidence with creation.”

An Artist. That’s who God is. He is a Painter, a Molder, a Lover of Colors, a Sculptor, a Drawer, a Drafter, a Creator. We should’ve expected Jesus to take on the career of a Carpenter.
Now every time I see art, whether in the river, autumn leaves, or in Sarai’s toothless smile, it reminds me of the ultimate Artist, the one who molded the earth, colored the sunrise, and intricately created me.
